Felicia
is young lady, a woman and a servent in mission with God. Hailing from Ka-Mhlushwa Township,
around Nelspruit in Mpumalanga Province, her music journey started in 1996,
thanks to Mr Sipho Mkhabela who gave her a platform that changed her life for
better by putting her on stage. She has been holding on to
the microphone since and has never left the stage to this day.
A born again Christian
since the age of 16 (1997), Felicia has sung in weddings, conferences, and
concerts. Her history in music includes working with Vision a group popular known as kaMhlushwa
Mass Choir. Felicia Sompisi is also a member of three other musical acts: Nelicia;
Sound of Celebration; and Zoe Youth Mass Choir.
A decade ago
(2002) Felicia founded a teenage talk show and established Your Sister’s Keeper and Boyz
in the Hood teenage classes. This was to combat disruptive behaviors by
township youth and to also draw their focus into activities that would shape their future
academically, socially and spiritually by involving them in church related
activities.
In that very same year 2002
Felicia recorded her first album collaborating with Nelisiwe Bhiya. The duo was
coined Nelicia combining Nilisiwe and
Felicia’s first names and their debut album was titled Praise. Although the album was not a commercial success, the duo convened
two years later (2004) and released
their second which sadly was to be their last album as a duo Thina
Sihlengiwe.
The sudden demise of Nelicia meant Felicia had to go at it on
her own. So began her search for a record label and nationwide distribution. The
journey was a tough one as she was declined in a number of auditions and doors
were being shut on everywhere. She also attempted to release the album on her
own but lacked funding to do so. Attempts to get sponsorship also failed
decimally. In 2009, God revealed to Felicia that she was called for His
ministry, to spread the Gospel with the talent he gave her and that she should allow
Him to have His will. God quickly took charge, picked her up, he took control
of her finances and Felicia was able to fund and independently release her first
solo project Psalm 104. This is how
Felicia Sompisi the musician, preacher, teacher and prophetess was born.
